1. Add Keywords

There are certain areas within your LinkedIn profile that are very sensitive to search engine ranking-- the two most important fields are your headline and job title. Figure out how a person would find you if they didn't know your name. These are the words to pepper in your headline, summary, and job titles.

2. Add a Benefit Statement

Tell people why they should click on your profile. Let people know what they can expect from interacting with you. By adding a benefit statement to your LinkedIn headline, you are increasing the chances of people clicking to view your profile.

3. Actively Post Content

Get active on LinkedIn and post content. But here's a secret: You don't have to be a content creator-- you can be a content curator. It's hard to create content but it's much easier to read through your homepage and share, like and comment on posts that others have created. In this way, you become a curator of great content.

4. View Other People's LinkedIn Profiles

When you view other people's profiles, they will view your profile in return. So don't be shy, check out profiles and then watch as they return the view.

It's important to first make sure you are not surfing LinkedIn anonymously. Rather than send you to LinkedIn's settings page, here's the direct link to select what other's see when you view their profile.

This is how it should look:
Getting Noticed On LinkedIn, stop being anonymous

Now when you visit people's LinkedIn profiles, they'll see you listed in their profile stats page. Free users of LinkedIn only see the last 5 people who checked out their LinkedIn profile. Premium users will see 90 days worth of stats.

5. Give Recommendations!

Stop asking for recommendations. Instead, give recommendations. Think about the people who have impacted you positively and impressed you. Without any prodding, write them a glowing LinkedIn recommendation and watch the awesome things that happen!

Not sure what to write in that recommendation? Check out Endorser.org. Endorser is a recommendation generator. Enter in the person's name, gender, company name and job title, click the Endorse button and Endorser.org spits out a recommendation. Nifty, huh?
