Twitter Launches Bing-Powered Tweet Translator

Twitter has introduced a tweet translation feature to the platform that is powered by Microsoft’s Bing.

Supporting more than 40 languages, the feature is live now and visible on Twitter.com and the official iOS and Android apps.

You can view a tweet translation by clicking on the globe icon within the tweet.

The tool is on by default, but to activate (or deactivate) tweet translations follow these instructions:

1. Log in to Twitter.com

2. Go to Account settings and scroll down to the Tweet translation section

Twitter is aware that some translations aren’t perfect, and offers this note on their support pages.

Although Bing Translator relies on advanced translation software to provide Tweet translations, the results still vary and often fall below the accuracy and fluency of translations provided by a professional translator. For this reason, the original text is always displayed above its translation.
